SEND Behaviour Assistant
£15.50–£16.29 per hour | Monday to Friday | Full-time | CPD-accredited training provided
Are you calm under pressure and motivated by helping children overcome barriers to learning?
Do you want to make a genuine difference for pupils with special educational needs and behavioural challenges?
Aspira Education is recruiting SEND Behaviour Assistants to work in Derbyshire schools, supporting learners who need structured, trauma-informed support to succeed. This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone with experience in care, mental health, teaching assistant roles, psychology, or SEND settings — or those with lived experience and a heart for impact.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, helping pupils feel safe, focused, and valued — even when the day doesn’t go to plan.
About the Role
As a SEND Behaviour Assistant, you’ll:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis in specialist or mainstream settings
- Use consistent strategies to help manage behaviour, emotions, and classroom routines
- Support learning alongside the teacher, adapting your approach to meet individual needs
- Help children navigate transitions, social situations, and sensory overload
- Work with SENCOs, DSLs, and therapists to implement support plans effectively
This is a full-time, term-time position — Monday to Friday — and we’ll match you with a setting that aligns with your strengths and experience.
What We’re Looking For
This role could suit you if:
- You’ve supported children or vulnerable people in care, school, residential, or mental health settings
- You have a background in psychology, SEND, behaviour support, or emotional wellbeing
- You’re naturally calm, patient, and able to build strong relationships with young people
- You want your work to have real meaning and long-term impact
You don’t need formal qualifications — just a supportive nature and the right mindset.
All applicants must have:
- The right to work in the UK
- A clear Enhanced DBS (or be willing to apply)
- Two recent references
- A willingness to complete free online safeguarding training
What You’ll Get
- £15.50–£16.29 per hour (paid weekly via Parasol – our FCSA-accredited umbrella partner)
- Free CPD-accredited training via the Aspira Training Academy
- Coaching in SEND strategies, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support
- Ongoing support from a team who understands the complexities of your role
