Learner Engagement Mentor
£15.50–£16.29 per hour | Monday to Friday | Full-time | CPD-accredited training provided

Are you driven to help young people rediscover their confidence and reconnect with learning?
Do you know how to build trust, create routine, and bring energy into the school day?

Aspira Education is recruiting Learner Engagement Mentors to support children in Derbyshire schools who are struggling to fully access their education. These are young people who may be experiencing low motivation, inconsistent attendance, or difficulties settling into school life.

This role is ideal for those with backgrounds in mentoring, youth work, behaviour support, outreach, or pastoral care — or for people who simply believe every pupil deserves another chance.

About the Role

As a Learner Engagement Mentor, you’ll:

  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with students who are disengaged or withdrawn
  • Use patience, structure, and encouragement to boost classroom participation
  • Help pupils overcome barriers such as anxiety, poor attendance, or low confidence
  • Support learning through motivational coaching, not direct instruction
  • Act as a key adult figure for pupils who need consistency and calm
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to help every pupil feel part of the school community

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role during term time, based in a mainstream or specialist setting.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from individuals who are:

  • Empathetic, proactive, and emotionally intelligent
  • Experienced in youth work, coaching, mentoring, or similar support roles
  • Passionate about inclusion and helping learners feel like they belong
  • Able to hold strong boundaries while remaining calm, kind, and encouraging

Whether you’re experienced or exploring a career in education — we’ll provide full support and training.

All applicants must have:

  • The right to work in the UK
  • A clear Enhanced DBS (or be willing to apply)
  • Two recent references
  • A willingness to complete free online safeguarding training

What You’ll Get

  • £15.50–£16.29 per hour (paid weekly via Parasol – our FCSA-accredited umbrella partner)
  • Free CPD-accredited training through the Aspira Training Academy
  • Techniques for boosting engagement, reducing anxiety, and supporting attendance
  • Regular check-ins and guidance from an experienced team who understands education

Why Join Aspira?

Aspira Education is a Derbyshire-based, REC-accredited SEND agency led by a qualified SEND teacher and national recruiter. We believe that long-term change starts with strong relationships and a belief that every pupil can succeed.

Sometimes, re-engagement starts with one conversation — and one adult who doesn’t give up.

Safeguarding Commitment

Aspira Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must be willing to undergo safeguarding and background checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
