Aspira Education is recruiting Lead Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Derbyshire. This role is ideal for someone who’s previously worked in cover, TA, or unqualified teaching roles and is now looking to step up with added responsibility and visibility in school.

You’ll lead lessons in the teacher’s absence, maintain classroom routines, and serve as a key part of the school’s cover team — trusted, professional, and confident.

About the Role

As a Lead Cover Supervisor, you’ll:

• Deliver pre-set lesson plans across a variety of subjects
• Lead lessons with confidence, managing classroom behaviour and ensuring engagement
• Provide consistency and stability for learners across the timetable
• Mentor and support newer cover staff where appropriate
• Liaise regularly with teaching staff, heads of department, and senior leaders

This is a long-term, full-time role (Monday–Friday, term time only) with opportunities for ongoing development.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Have 6+ months’ experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, or instructor
• Are confident managing full-class behaviour across secondary year groups
• Communicate clearly and calmly, even in pressurised situations
• Are proactive, professional, and able to build pupil rapport quickly
• Are open to working flexibly across subjects (support provided)

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
• Two recent references
• Previous classroom experience in a UK secondary school setting
