Alternative Provision Teacher
£150-£220 per day (Depending on experience) | Excellent opportunity to work full-time in an alternative provision
Do you want to teach in a setting that genuinely transforms young lives?
Are you passionate about creating a classroom where every pupil feels safe, understood, and supported to take the next step forward?
Aspira Education is recruiting an Alternative Provision Teacher to work with a small class of pupils with SEMH needs, within the Chesterfield area.
This is a full-time, long-term role, working Monday to Friday. You’ll be teaching no more than 10 pupils, supported by a strong team who understand the challenges and rewards of SEMH teaching.
Whether you’ve worked in alternative provisions before or come from a mainstream background with strong behaviour experience, this is an opportunity to work in a setting where your resilience, consistency, and calm leadership will make a meaningful impact every single day.
About the Role
- Teach and support a Primary class of up to 10 pupils with SEMH needs.
- Deliver structured, engaging lessons that balance academic progress with emotional regulation and personal development.
- Maintain a calm, predictable environment with clear routines, boundaries, and high expectations.
- Work collaboratively with behaviour mentors, support staff, SENCOs, and senior leaders to meet each pupil’s individual needs.
- Build positive relationships grounded in patience, respect, and restorative practice.
- This position is ideal for someone who is resilient, consistent, and able to see the reward behind the challenge.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- Experience teaching pupils with SEMH or in alternative provision settings.
- Strong behaviour management and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure.
- Confidence delivering KS3 curriculum content and adapting it to a wide range of abilities.
- A genuine belief in inclusion, second chances, and helping pupils re-engage in education.
We welcome experienced SEMH teachers as well as teachers from mainstream settings with the right skillset and resilience.
All Applicants Must Have
- The right to work in the UK.
- A clear, Enhanced Child Workforce DBS.
- QTS recognised by the DfE
- Two recent references.
- A willingness to complete free online safeguarding training if required.
What You’ll Get
- £150–£220 per day, depending on experience.
- Free CPD-accredited SEMH/Safeguarding training through the Aspira Training Academy.
- Ongoing support from an experienced SEN-focused recruiter.
- A secure, long-term role in a setting where your work will genuinely change outcomes for pupils who need it most.
You bring the resilience. We’ll bring the support. Together, you’ll make a real impact.
